TOP COMMON WIG MISTAKES AND HOW TO FIX THEM

If you’ve never worn a wig before, or you’ve only worn a wig a few times, you could be making one of these common mistakes:

1. Using the wrong shampoo

We highly recommend investing in shampoo/ conditioners made for your wigs because the chemical in regular conditioners and shampoos can be too hard for your hair and can ruin its texture.

While washing your hair, it is essential to use a certain technique: soaking for a shampoo and water combo while combing the shampoo and conditioner gently throughout the hair.

Do not massage or rub the hair and don’t forget to never brush the wig while it is wet; because the hair is at its weakest point when it's wet.

2. Using hot tools:

Just like heat can damage your hair due to the high temperatures, it can also damage wigs made of human hair. Therefore, we recommend you to invest in some heat protection spray if you find yourself straightening or curling your wig very often.

TIP: If you have a synthetic wig, you can only use heat only if it is heat friendly.

3. Wearing the wrong size:

Wearing a wig that doesn’t fit properly can cause effects on your hair such as hair loss and breakage, especially if the wig is too tight. It is important to get the crown of your head measured by a professional who deals in wigs before ordering.

4. Hygiene

Not keeping your hair clean will damage your wig due to the fact that our scalps create sebum when it gets hot underneath it. Because of this, you may find yourself washing your wig often which shortens its lifespan.

So keeping it clean underneath will reduce how often you will need to wash your wig.

Tip: Wearing a wig cap helps protect both your hair and the wig from damage.

We want to make sure that you’re going to have a positive experience wearing your wigs, so we hope these tips are helpful.

Don’t forget to share your experience with us too!
